Sunlight’s App renews transparency, accountability and trust for parents, youth and their teams in child welfare.

Sunlight Group today announced its flagship product, formerly YourCasePlan, is renamed Sunlight; and the company rolled out new branding in support of the app’s first major upgrade, launching today.

Sunlight’s secure, mobile- and web-accessible app offers a HIPAA-compliant, secure platform that supports  case-management communication for child-welfare cases, connecting parents or youth with their attorneys, case workers, CASA/GAL volunteers and other support team members to create better outcomes.

Following its 2025 launch, Sunlight is quickly spreading across the U.S. reaching 33 states and connecting 53,000 youth and parents with 20,000+ attorneys, caseworkers and CASA/GAL volunteers.

“Communication gaps account for the majority of delays in child-welfare hearings. When hearings get delayed, the tangible and intangible costs are enormous,” Sunlight CEO and former foster parent Ryan O'Donnell explains. “A single continuance adds 30-90 days to a case and thousands of dollars in direct-placement costs. This does not account for the additional time incurred for everyone on the case team, nor does it consider the incalculable cost that every day of delay is another day a child spends in foster care, separated from family.”

Sunlight brings everyone and everything case-related together on a secure platform and improves critical communication to keep child-welfare cases on track:
In-app messaging lets parents (or youth) communicate securely with each team member about their case in one place. Attorney-client communication is confidential and secure.
Calendar notifications remind clients and team members of key dates, including hearings and visitation.
Case notes, documentation and other key evidence is stored in one place and linked to the case.

“Sunlight makes it easy to communicate and collaborate so expectations are transparent, and everyone can be accountable for their part in the child welfare process,” Gwendolyn Clegg, Executive Director, Oklahoma Office of Family Representation, said.

Additional offerings in the Sunlight portfolio include:

  • Sunlight Health is California’s first justice-powered Enhanced Care Management provider built for system-involved youth and families. Sunlight Health bridges the justice and healthcare systems so families can access coordinated, high-impact care through the advocates they already know and trust, including CASA programs and dependency counsel organizations.
  • CasaManager, Powered by Sunlight, provides a trusted and secure case management solution for CASA/GAL programs so they can effectively advocate for youth in foster care, manage staff and volunteers, and generate accurate reports for funders.
  • Sunlight also announced plans to launch an independent nonprofit, Family Defense Council, to strengthen legal representation for parents and children nationwide.
